Zalingei Hospital: Khartoum Highlight- Médecins Sans Frontières suspended all activities at Zalingei Hospital, Central Darfur, after a violent armed attack inside the facility. The assault killed one person and injured five others, including a Ministry of Health staff member, according to eyewitnesses. The attack occurred outside the emergency department i with a hand grenade, leaving six people dead and wounded. MSF emergency coordinator in Darfur, Marwan Taher, said attacks on hospitals endanger lives and make safe operations impossible. Taher added: “We made a decision no medical organization wants to take. Our staff cannot risk their lives.” The Darfur Victims Advocacy Organization condemned the attack, urging urgent investigation, accountability, and protection of health facilities in conflict zones. MSF had recently led a cholera emergency response at this Hospital, treating 162 patients in just 16 days. Zalingei Hospital remains the only facility equipped to handle critical cases in Central Darfur State.
