Grave Violations and Cries Unheard: El Fasher in Pain. A symposium held by the African Forum of the Egyptian Socialist Popular Alliance Party discusses the city’s tragedy – Khartoum Highlight.
The Africa Forum of Egypt’s Socialist Popular Alliance Party held a symposium at its downtown Cairo headquarters. The event gathered Sudanese and Egyptian activists and was moderated by journalist Khaled Mahmoud. Speakers praised the resilience of El Fasher’s people. They condemned the siege and starvation of El Fasher and other cities. And calling it a war tactic without legality or morality. Journalist Hanim Adam presented a comprehensive picture of El Fasher’s humanitarian suffering. She said the city has been under siege for over 500 days, lacking food and medicine, with prices soaring astronomically. Elderly people and children struggle to find a single meal, creating heartbreaking scenes of survival.
Violations against unarmed civilians:

Sadiq Ali Hassan, head of the Sudanese Group for the Defense of Rights and Freedoms, said the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have controlled over 70% of public institutions before taking the entire city. El Fasher’s residents rejected the war he said. Added that the RSF captured the 6th Infantry Division and the government secretariat, committing widespread abuses against unarmed civilians.
Hassan called for urgent international intervention to stop grave violations against the city’s residents. He blamed all warring factions — the army, joint command, RSF, and Islamic Movement — for turning El Fasher and other besieged cities into battlefields. He said most residents refuse to flee and reject submission to any ruling force. For that reason, he added, stability cannot be achieved simply by seizing government buildings.
Speakers compared El Fasher’s resistance and courage to other global struggles, calling it a unique example of human endurance. They said the city’s cries of pain have yet to reach global conscience, urging immediate action to support its people. Participants praised Egypt’s government and people for hosting Sudanese refugees and showing solidarity with Sudan’s suffering. The forum recommended all possible efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the people of El Fasher and Sudan at large.
