Egypt’s Foreign Ministry affirmed Cairo’s commitment to the Quartet initiative, aiming to end Sudan’s war and ease civilian suffering. The statement followed weeks of consultations among the four states under international Quartet efforts to restore peace and stability in Sudan. Accordingly, Quartet set timelines to end Sudan’s conflict and launch a civilian transition within nine months. It also called for an initial three-month humanitarian truce leading to a permanent ceasefire, excluding extremists and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Egypt’s Foreign Ministry stressed safeguarding Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity as key to security and stability. The statement emphasized intensifying humanitarian aid and halting arms flows that prolong Sudan’s war. It reiterated that a three-month truce must lead to a permanent ceasefire and inclusive, transparent nine-month transitional process. The foreign ministers pledged to monitor implementation and use good offices to ensure commitments are respected. They also agreed to hold a ministerial meeting on the UN General Assembly sidelines in New York this September.

Meanwhile, Egypt confirmed its determination to actively support all international and regional efforts assisting Sudan in restoring peace and stability. Cairo underlined its commitment to help Sudanese people achieve the bright future they deserve under an independent civilian government.
