Somoud: Kekal Responsible for the ‘Wad Al-Noura Massacre’… His Visit Provokes Victims’ Families
Jaafar Hassan Harshly Criticizes Al-Burhan’s Statements in the Region

The official spokesperson for The Civil Democratic Alliance for Revolutionary Forces (Somoud), Jaafar Hassan Othman, stated that the army commander, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, bringing along the former Rapid Support Forces (RSF) field commander, Abu Aqla Kekal, to the Wad Al-Noura area in Al-Jazeera State is a severe provocation to the families of the victims who were killed by Kekal and his group.
In a statement to Khartoum Highlight, Jaafar issued scathing criticism of Al-Burhan’s statements in the region and his insistence on continuing the “senseless” war. He pointed out that what confirms its absurdity is Kekal addressing the families of his victims in Wad Al-Noura, speaking to them about avenging their sons from the killers—while he himself is one of them and is responsible for the “massacre” that took place there.
On April 15, 2023, a brutal war broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces, resulting in the killing and displacement of millions of Sudanese people, and causing the world’s worst humanitarian catastrophe.
Kekal was the RSF’s field commander in Al-Jazeera State. During his leadership, the region witnessed widespread killings, looting, and terrorization of civilians before he shifted allegiance from the RSF to the army.
Hassan added:
“With every passing moment, the people will realize—just as we have long maintained—that this war is senseless and must be stopped immediately.”
