Al-Mahdi: Officers Retirement Shows Serious National Commitment
Retirement of Officers with “Blatant Affiliations” Reflects Serious Commitment to National Interest
Khartoum Highlight – Siddig Alsadiq Al-Mahdi, leader of the National Umma Party and Secretary-General of the “Somoud” Alliance, praised recent decisions by Sudanese Army Commander-in-Chief General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan. Al-Mahdi stated on Facebook that the promotions and retirements, targeting officers with “blatant affiliations,” push the military towards professionalism and neutrality. He added that Al-Burhan’s visit to Switzerland and meeting with U.S. presidential adviser Massad Boulos marked a significant step toward international engagement.
However, he stressed that the essence of any solution must remain purely Sudanese, rooted in national will, while coordinating with regional and international partners. Al-Mahdi emphasized that placing auxiliary forces under the Armed Forces’ command is crucial to unify military decisions and prevent violations. He further called for disarming these groups in safe zones, protecting civilians’ lives, and preventing weapons from fueling personal disputes under militia pretexts.
