Report Reveals Possible Chemical Weapons Use in East Sennar and Jebel Moya -Khartoum Highlight

A new rights report uncovered potential use of chemical weapons in East Sennar and Jebel Moya, sparking civilian panic. The report included testimonies from locals describing severe health and environmental impacts linked to the alleged chemical use. Prepared by rights activist Rehab Mubarak Sid Ahmed, the report documented alarming changes in farmland soil and vegetation.

Residents noticed large yellow patches covering entire acres, spreading across multiple agricultural areas in the region. Severe and chronic respiratory infections were reported, alongside suspected cholera, kidney failure, and eye inflammations. Crops failed due to soil contamination, with entire farming projects collapsing and no germination occurring in some fields. Mass livestock deaths were also recorded without clear causes, raising concerns about widespread environmental poisoning.

The report also documented chest infections, skin rashes, and congenital deformities among newborns in some families. These conditions forced many residents to abandon their homes, fueling fears of a humanitarian and environmental crisis. The findings raise serious concerns about chemical weapons’ impact on public health, agriculture, and the wider environment in Sudan.
