Atbara Resistance Committees Welcome Quartet Statement, Praise Sheikh Kadabas Initiative – Khartoum Highlight

Atbara Resistance Committees welcomed the Quartet’s statement on ending the war in Sudan. Saying it aligns with their aspirations to stop the bloodshed. Quartet (United States, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and Egypt) set timelines to end conflict and launch a civilian transition within nine months. It also called for an initial three-month humanitarian truce leading to a permanent ceasefire. While stressing the need to exclude extremist groups and the Muslim Brotherhood from determining Sudan’s future. In their statement, the committees urged civil forces, native administrations, Sufi orders, and other actors to raise their voices for peace. And to encourage the return of displaced people, lift the siege on El-Fasher, and begin reconstruction. They also praised the initiative of Sheikh Kadabas (Sheikh Al-Jaali). Who called for a ceasefire and an end to the war raging since April 15, 2023.
