UN Chief: Conflict-Driven Hunger Spreading from Gaza to Sudan and Beyond

Khartoum highlights-News

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has warned that hunger fueled by armed conflicts is expanding “from Gaza to Sudan and beyond,” as humanitarian crises escalate across multiple regions.

In a video message delivered to the UN Food Systems Summit Stocktake held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on July 27, Guterres emphasized the devastating impact of hunger in conflict zones.

“Hunger fuels instability and undermines peace. We must never accept hunger as a weapon of war,” he said.

The statement comes amid growing international concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Sudan, where ongoing conflict has led to catastrophic food shortages and rising famine conditions in several regions of the country.
