Floods Threaten Millions in Sudan – Rising Nile levels spark new disaster- Khartoum Highlight

Floodwaters submerged wide areas in several Sudanese states. The disaster adds to the ongoing humanitarian tragedy since the April 15 war. The General Directorate of Nile Water Affairs warned citizens near riverbanks.
It urged urgent measures to protect lives and property. In Wad Madani, the Nile reached 19.91 meters. This level is close to the catastrophic 1946 flood. In Khartoum, the river surpassed the flood mark of 16.50 meters. It recorded 17.12 meters on Monday. Floods hit Al-Shegla in Omdurman. Kalakla Al-Qubba and Al-Assal in Jabel Aulia were also submerged.  Floods Threaten and Risks are intensifying in Al-Mogran and nearby Khartoum neighborhoods. In Blue Nile State, floods swept through Gaisan locality.
