Khartoum Highlight- Taher Hajar, a member of the Presidential Council of the de facto government in Nyala, condemned the Sudanese army’s targeting of a World Food Programme (WFP) humanitarian convoy in North Darfur’s Mellit locality, calling it a terrorist crime. Hajar said the army struck the aid convoy with drones while it was carrying essential relief supplies for civilians in dire need. “This act constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the conventions protecting civilians. It exposes the extent of disregard for human values and international norms,” he stated. Taher Hajar stressed that the repeated targeting of humanitarian aid, including a similar incident near Al-Kuma in June, amounts to a crime against humanity that does not lapse with time. “The perpetrators of this crime must be held accountable, both locally and internationally,” Hajar added.
