Nafie the Removal of the Veil from Their Criminal War- Khartoum Highlight

By Khalid Omar Yousif

I listened to Dr. Nafi Ali Nafi’s speech in the online symposium organized by the dissolved National Congress Party. His clear words landed like a slap . On the face of anyone still trying to ignore the true nature and goals of this war. Dr. Nafi told his Islamist allies that the conflict is part of a “comprehensive conspiracy” by Western.  Zionist, and Crusader powers. He claimed its aim is looting Sudan’s resources and blocking Islamist groups from power, whether through elections or the army.

Dr.Nafi framed the April 15 war as a popular uprising that foiled “Volker’s plans” and the civilian forces’ attempt to seize authority. He rejected peace efforts, describing them as attempts to preserve the RSF and restore the civilian bloc he labeled “Hamdok’s group” . Nafi also denounced the December Revolution, calling it a coup orchestrated by Western-Zionist powers. He accused them of targeting Sudanese youth with immorality—citing the sit-in, Columbia, and LGBT marches—while attacking faith by changing school curricula and violating mosques.

As usual, he did not spare the army from criticism. He said the military should not abandon politics, but instead remain tasked only with guarding borders and protecting civilian governments, which he dismissed as “servants of foreign agendas” like Hamdok’s cabinet.

Nafi concluded by thanking God for the “defeat of the rebellion.” He promoted their project of “liberation and rebuilding the nation,” claiming only Islam—exclusively represented by them—can achieve it. He vowed that their movement and allies would keep mobilizing members to impose security, rebuild the country, and lead the transition after the war.

A War to Crush the December Revolution:

So, after all these statements, can anyone still be blind to the nature of this war? Who ignited it, and why? What is its main purpose?

<p>This is the National Congress Party’s war—an Islamist war to crush the December Revolution and punish the Sudanese people who overthrew their fascist rule. They are not seeking dialogue. And will not hesitate to continue their bloody project, regardless of the cost. They divided Sudan once before, killing two million in the South and committing genocide in Darfur that left 300,000 dead. Today, they resume the same scheme, waging a war that displaced millions and destroyed the country in brutal fashion.

The duty of revolutionary forces is not to bury their heads in the sand but to face this truth. Peace will only come through confronting the greatest obstacle to it: the NCP and its Islamist movement. They will exploit every resource to prolong and profit from war. But the civilian forces hold the tools to defeat them—politically, socially, in the media, and diplomatically—if they unite, avoid secondary divisions, and direct their strength against the real enemy. That is how they can strip the old regime of its power to extend the war and remove the main barrier to peace. The revolution achieved this once in December.  It can do so again. Ending the war peacefully and completing the revolutionary path.  That must not be buried under the rubble of this criminal conflict.
