De facto authorities detain relief ships in Port Sudan – Khartoum Highlight
De facto authorities in Port Sudan detained four UN relief ships, citing inspection and compliance with standards. A source from the Ports Authority said the ships have been docked for over a month without unloading, disrupting traffic. The source added that authorities are deliberately slow in handling the ships, and their cargo was damaged by high humidity. Many areas in Sudan face famine and severe shortages of food and medicine, amid repeated international humanitarian appeals.
