Grave Atrocities by Security Cell in Khartoum: “Emergency Lawyers”
Khartoum Highlight- The Emergency Lawyers group documented Grave Atrocities by the security cell in Khartoum, including arbitrary arrests, torture, and ill-treatment of civilians. In a statement, the group said the security cell has turned into a repressive tool used to liquidate civilians. Detainees are held in its offices, with some transferred to large detention centers such as Jebel Sirkab.
The group demanded the immediate release of all detainees, disclosure of the fate of the missing, and protection for victims’ families. It also urged an end to atrocities such as arbitrary arrests and extrajudicial killings. Emergency Lawyers stressed the urgent need to hold perpetrators of these atrocities accountable and to refer the crimes to the International Criminal Court.
