(ICPAC): Tersin Destruction Caused by Catastrophic Landslide – Khartoum Highlight

The IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Center (ICPAC) reported a catastrophic landslide on August 31, 2025. Heavy rains and flooding triggered the disaster, destroying Tersin village in Jabel Marra, western Sudan, and causing massive devastation. In a statement Thursday (September 4), ICPAC said Sudan’s government, with humanitarian partners, began a joint rapid assessment. The assessment aims to determine the disaster’s scale and impact on affected communities. The statement confirmed international aid is being mobilized to provide emergency support. This includes medical supplies, reproductive health items, food assistance, clean water services, sanitation, and hygiene kits. Humanitarian support is urgently needed to assist survivors of the Tersin disaster.
