Port Sudan Authority Rewards Criminality… Appointment of Ahmed Al-Khair’s Killer as Director of Education in Kassala- Khartoum Highlight
In a move sparking anger, Kassala authorities appointed Hassan Ahmed Mohamed Hamroun as Director of Education in Kassala locality. The appointment came amid widespread accusations against Hamroun for involvement in the assassination of martyr teacher Ahmed Al-Khair. Teacher Ahmed Al-Khair was lured and arrested in January 2019, then tortured to death inside detention centers of the former regime.
The case shocked public opinion and led to death sentences against 27 security officers responsible for his killing. Anger has resurfaced with Hamroun’s appointment by Port Sudan Authority. which the Sudanese Teachers Committee described as “a deep wound to justice.” The Committee stressed in an official statement that the appointment represents a setback to people’s demands for justice and retribution. It noted Hamroun had previously been expelled and his house burned in Qirba by teachers, avenging his role in luring Al-Khair. The Committee considered the step insistence on recycling former regime leaders . And a blatant challenge to families of martyrs and the Sudanese people.
