Medical Sources: Major Cholera Outbreak in Kadugli Amid Silence from Authorities
Patients are transported by animals due to the high price and scarcity of fuel.
Kadugli – Khartoum Highlight – Medical sources in Kadugli told Khartoum Highlight about a major cholera outbreak in the city. By Friday, August 22, 2025, 40 cases had been confirmed. All patients were placed in the isolation ward at Kadugli Teaching Hospital. A medical worker said patients are transported “by carts and animals” due to fuel shortages and high prices. Two elderly patients have died in the hospital. Medical Sources also reported unconfirmed child deaths at home. Doctors said the outbreak is cholera, not watery diarrhea as promoted by officials. Despite the crisis, the state’s Ministry of Health has issued no statement on the outbreak.
