Umma Party : Supporters Will Not Accept a “Jokey” President
Mocking attempts to reintroduce figures based on family or historical ties
Khartoum Highlight- The Umma Party ridiculed moves by individuals previously affiliated with the party or the Ansar movement. They seek to re-enter politics after the fall of the former regime. These individuals rely on family or historical ties. Their record shows prior allegiance to the National Congress Party. They even held high-ranking positions in its political and military institutions. The party’s General Secretariat stated: “Supporters will not allow a ‘Jokey’ president to be imposed. Only they elect their leadership under the constitution ratified by Umma Party General Conference. The statement stressed the party’s commitment to institutional work and respect for its constitutional institutions. It firmly rejects attempts to exploit its history for personal or political agendas that oppose its national path.
