Al-Toum has been active in emergency response rooms and grassroots initiatives across Red Sea State and its rural areas. Since the outbreak of war, he contributed to emergency committees and community kitchens serving displaced people in the city. Port Sudan Resistance Committees held authorities fully responsible for his safety and demanded his immediate release.
