Army-Endorsed Militia Merger in Sudan- Gosh’s backing boosts Jakoumi’s “Sudan Defense Forces” – Khartoum Highlight

A new militia emerged in Sudan. The “Wad Ahmed Alliance” merged with Jakoumi’s “Sudan Defense Forces.” The announcement came in Port Sudan. It was made during a press conference attended by Sudanese army officers. Jakoumi told Al Jazeera Mubashir the army supported the new force. He described the merger as officially blessed. Jakoumi’s militia was originally formed under Salah Gosh’s sponsorship. The former security chief remains wanted in Sudan. Sources confirmed Gosh met Jakoumi in Asmara last August. Talks focused on creating a new armed group for northern Sudan. Jakoumi initially sought Eritrean training for purely northern forces.
But Gosh insisted on presenting them as “national.” The Sudan Defense Forces launched under that cover.
Its narrative highlighted state collapse and security chaos amid the war.
