Al-Jazeera Human Rights Observatory revealed a widespread outbreak of dengue fever and hepatitis in Al-Jazeera State. The observatory said multiple areas, including Wad Madani, Managil, and Hasaheisa, are witnessing disease spread. Reports indicate one in three residents in Hasaheisa is infected with dengue fever. It noted unrecorded deaths linked to the outbreak. More than 25 people died in Abu Ashar due to dengue fever, mostly elderly and chronically ill patients. The main causes of the spread, according to the observatory, are environmental degradation, lack of awareness, and poor living conditions. The Rights Monitor appealed to the World Health Organization for urgent intervention to contain the worsening health situation in Al-Jazeera State. It urged authorities to declare Al-Jazeera a health disaster zone and take immediate action to protect citizens. It stressed that health is a basic human right guaranteed by international conventions and the constitutional document.
