Charter for Conflict Resolution and Peaceful Coexistence

Charter for Conflict Resolution-  Khartoum Highlight- The city of Lagawa in West Kordofan State concluded the Peaceful Coexistence Conference. The Conference which ended on Tuesday organized and facilitated by the Kordofan Organization for Peace and Development. This come  with broad participation from the Misseriya, Dajo, and Nuba communities. The two-day conference was attended by a number of traditional leaders, beside executive and political figures from  Lagawa locality. Working papers were presented focusing on consolidating the values of coexistence. It  strengthening shared interests, and promoting development initiatives that reinforce the unity of these communities, which share deep historical ties.

The conference culminated in the signing of a Charter for Peaceful Coexistence between the locality’s communities. This come in the presence of the Commissioner of  Lagawa County and Executive Director of   locality, along with traditional leadership representatives. The Charter for Conflict Resolution included commitments from the parties to work jointly . That for the benefit of the local community and to support peace and development efforts. It also stipulated the creation of joint committees for conflict resolution, the unification of traditional leadership mechanisms, and the formation of youth and women’s committees to activate the role of these groups in fostering peaceful coexistence.
